Summer School/Credit Recovery

Courses taken outside of HMSA may not be A-G approved to meet UC/CSU admissions requirements. Please use the UC Doorways website and check with your counselor to verify.

July 10 - August 4, 2017

Monday - Friday

 

Semester 1: 8:00am-11:10am

Available courses: Algebra 1A, Algebra 2A

Semester 2: 12:30pm-3:40pm

Available courses: Algebra 1B, Algebra 2B

 

Registration will have this priority order:

1. Students with F grades*

2. Grade level (senior, junior, sophomore)

3. Time stamp

 

Deadline: Register by Wednesday, May 17

If you register past the deadline, you will automatically be added to the waitlist.

*Students who want to make up grades of B or C or to accelerate in math should speak to a counselor for a Community College Concurrent Enrollment referral or BYU scholarship form.

Summer school referrals are distributed in Spring. Procedure for completing a referral:

  1. Students can be referred for a maximum of (4) courses. Only classes with a letter grade of "D" or "F" or a course that has never been taken can be assigned.
  2. Complete the online pre-registration at http://preregistration.emsofl.com.
  3. Complete the front of the referral including parent signature and submit to Opportunities for Learning at address listed above. 
  4. Students are notified in early June if they will be accepted. 

OFL summer school typically runs from July 1 to late August. Students are required to meet with their OFL teacher twice a week and are allowed a maximum of (2) unexcused absences. Most students who work diligently are able to complete one class every 3 weeks for a total of (3) courses over the entire summer.

  3. Return the completed referral to Mission View at one of the preferred location listed above.
  4. Attend your scheduled Mission View orientation meeting.

Mission View summer school typically runs from July 3 to late August. Students are required to meet with their Mission View teacher twice a week and are allowed a maximum of (2) unexcused absences. Most students who work diligently are able to complete one class every 3 weeks for a total of (3) courses over the entire summer. 

 

Brigham Young University Independent Study

  • Students register for courses at elearn.byu.edu and select school code 051122
  • Courses are $144 per semester courses and BYU Scholarship Applications are available
  • Counselors will not process scholarship applications for students during the school year unless they can demonstrate grades of 70% in their current courses

 

Emerson Adult Learning Center

  • Students should see their counselor for a referral
  • All students must take a placement test before enrolling which are held Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m.
  • Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Counselors will not complete referrals for students during the school year unless they can demonstrate grades of 70% in their current courses
